Despite the decisions taken by the government as preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus, companies and individuals also have a key role in fighting the virus.
Ambassador of Cuba to Qatar, Emilio Caballero Rodriguez, has appreciated the procedures taken by the government to fight coronavirus.
“Like everybody, these days I am observing the evolution of the pandemic created by COVID-19 all over the World. Fortunately, here in Qatar I see that its authorities had acted very fast, in a preventive manner, and have taken very serious and comprehensive actions to protect the whole of the population while with much responsibility and dedication the persons that unfortunately got the virus.”
Speaking to The Peninsula, he said: “Of course, such an official effort, to be totally successful, requires the understanding, participation and commitment on the part of the whole population. In this regard I observe much discipline and social responsibility here. God bless Qatar.”
As a social responsibility, many individuals announced their willingness to assist the government in its decisions. Some people have announced donating their flats which can be used as a place for quarantine. Some have also announced educational campaigns to educate people about the adverse affects of the disease and the need to stay at home. Some have come forward for volunteering for the Ministry of Public Health. The number of volunteers has reached more than 10,000 people.
Others also announced their commitment to abide by instructions issued by the relevant authorities. Residents say that it is the time for cooperation and show solidarity with Qatar. Qatar must be the priority. “Every person should feel his responsibility towards society, by adhering to preventive health instructions, managing time with children and family members at home, avoiding rumours and getting news from official sources,” tweeted Ameen, a resident,.
He also said that “the companies have taken many important initiatives and now it is time for the residents to participate”.
Companies also can support Qatar’s efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by providing a safe working environment and educating employees about the risks posed by COVID-19 and ways to prevent its transmission.
