Doha: Banyan Tree Doha at La Cigale Mushaireb celebrates the first Thai street food at Saffron Thai Cuisine. Banyan Tree Doha announced that they will be hosting Master Chef Renu Homsombat, Saffron’s Corporate Thai Chef, a position that she has been holding since 2011.
Chef Renu and Chef Tip, the head chef of Saffron Thai cuisine – Doha, will be working side by side to curate special menus that showcase the famous street food of Bangkok, as well as a special 6-course set Menu. The festival is to take place on October 27, 28 and 29, where and for the first two days Saffron is set to transport you to the most famous street food stalls of Bangkok with five main different stations serving the popular grills, salads, mains, desserts and much more. On Saturday October 29, Chef Renu will be preparing a six-course set menu that showcases the Royal Thai flavours in a unique and contemporary way. Chef Renu learnt to cook at an early age from her mother who owns a small restaurant in her hometown. Being exposed to the culinary world since childhood, she decided right from the outset that one day she was going to become a chef.
Chef Renu has had several opportunities to demonstrate her excellent culinary skills. In addition to holding regular events at the many Banyan Tree hotels and resorts around the world, where Saffron has now a presence with 14 restaurants in eight different countries spanning from Asia to Africa, the Middle East and all the way to the far-flung Americas, she has also been invited as a guest chef to join several gastronomic promotions internationally, such as at the Lotte and Sheraton Hotels in Korea; Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Oberoi Hotels in India; Hotel Traube Tonbach in Germany; Schwarzwaldstube (3 Michelin Star) in Germany and Conde Nast in New York City to name a few.
