Doha: Anthony Joshua (pictured), London Games 2012 gold medallist in boxing, has confimred his attendance for the Aspire4Sport 2012, it was revealed here yesterday.
Aspire4Sport2012, the sports business congress and exhibition, will take place from November 12 to 15 at Aspire Dome.
The list of sports legends that attendees of Aspire4Sport 2012 can interact include former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier and former Real Madrid sports director Pedja Mijatovic.
Joshua won a Olympic gold medal during the super heavyweight finals at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The guests at Aspire4Sport 2012 will feature in daily ‘Star Chats’ giving attendees the rare opportunity to listen to celebrities from across the sporting world share the invaluable insight gained from their careers. Guests will be invited to attend the daily celebrity discussions which will also be broadcast live at 2:00pm (GMT +3) on Al Dawri wal Kass sports channel and Al Jazeera.
Houllier is a French football manager who has had a long and illustrious career working with world-renowned football clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, with whom he won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup in 2001.
He will take part in the ‘Coaches Panel’ during one of the daily star chats. During this talk, Houllier and other coaches will speak about their experience as managers and their thoughts on the issues impacting world football. Additionally, Mijatovic, the Montenegrin football player and former sports director of Real Madrid will be alongside Spanish football legends Raúl González and Fernando Heirro in a special Real Madrid flavoured Star Chats.
Two other ‘Star Chats’ are set to take place during Aspire4Sport 2012. One will feature the former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis alongside Joshua.
“I cannot wait to come to Aspire Zone and Aspire4Sport 2012. I hope that my visit can inspire a future generation of Olympians and boxers in Qatar and the region,” commented Joshua on his upcoming visit to Doha. The celebrity list for Aspire4Sport 2012 will continue to grow in teh comind days, the organisers said.
Entering its third year under the new slogan “Connecting Business & Sport,” Aspire4Sport 2012 will feature three unique conference programs: ASPIRE-BUILD, focused on infrastructure and stadium development; ASPIRE-TECH, a conference on technology and sport; and ASPIRE-MED, which will feature discussions on sports science and sports medicine.
In addition, there will be a new feature organised as a joint initiative with Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Olympic Committee, which will be special workshop to explore sports tourism and discuss methods on how to develop it in Qatar.
