Ambassadors visit Fan Zone at Khalifa International Stadium

DOHA: The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hans-Udo Muzel, visited the Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone to watch the German national team’s second group match against Sweden in the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. 

The game took place on Saturday, and was broadcasted at the Khalifa International Stadium Fan Zone, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. 

Thanks to a stunning goal in the last minute of extra time by star midfielder Toni Kroos, the German team were able to keep their hopes alive of reaching the second round of the tournament with a 2-1 victory. Speaking from the sidelines of the match, Muzel, said: “I’d like to extend my thanks to Aspire Zone Foundation for organising this great Fan Zone at Khalifa International Stadium. It’s great to see so many people here watching and enjoying football, because sport brings people together. I look forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.”

Earlier in the day, the Ambassador for the Republic of Tunisia to Qatar, Salah Al Salhi, accompanied by Ambassador for the Sultanate of Oman to Qatar, Najeeb bin Yahya Al Balushi, visited the stadium to watch the afternoon match between Tunisia and Belgium in a game that started at 3pm.

This year’s Fan Zone is sponsored by the SC (Main Partner) and Ooredoo (Main Sponsor), as well as Al Attiya Motors and Trading Co, Mannai Trading CO. WLL (CISCO), Witr Jewellery, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and Pepsi. The Fan Zone is the ideal location for the country’s football fans to celebrate the most anticipated sporting event in the world, to follow World Cup games and keep up-to-date with all the action.
