NEW YORL: Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay was charged yesterday with two misdemeanor counts of impaired driving in connection with his March arrest.
Each misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
An initial hearing for Irsay’s case is scheduled for June 19.
The Seattle Seahawks waived rookie offensive tackle Garrett Scott, a sixth-round draft choice, after he failed his physical due to a rare heart condition.
“After undergoing an extensive physical with our medical staff last week, Garrett’s examination revealed a rare heart condition that will prevent him from any on-field participation in the near future,” general manager John Schneider said in a statement.
The San Francisco 49ers signed third-round pick Brandon Thomas, a guard from Clemson, to a four-year deal.
Thomas (6-foot-3, 317 pounds) was the third of three third-round draft picks (100th overall) by the 49ers in this year’s draft.
The agent for Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel responded to a sexual harassment lawsuit against Manziel by calling it “1000000% fake.”
A court clerk said that the claim was likely made by a “frequent filer,” according to NFL Media.
The clerk said that the name on the filing, Samantha Schacher, could be an alias.
This prompted Manziel’s agent Erik Burkhardt to write on Twitter: “This joke ‘lawsuit’ is obviously 1000000% fake and/or frivolous. Embarrassing I even have say this after reading the nonsense.”
Denver Broncos safety T.J. Ward appeared in court on misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace charges.
Ward, 27, was accused of throwing a glass mug at a bartender at a Denver strip club on May 10 after he was told he could not bring in a drink.
Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin told radio station KJR-AM that he and the team are working on a long-term contract.
