We are pretty excited this weekend since there are quite a few intriguing events, happening in Qatar, that will interest your tastebuds and humor.

International Dates Exhibition 2019

Aiming to meet the surge in demand for dates during Ramadan, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has organised an international dates exhibition ahead of the holy month where local and international exhibitors will showcase different varieties of dates.

Dates and date products will be showcased by 150 exhibitors including 89 local and 59 foreign companies for producing, supplying and selling dates from ten countries.

DFI Cinema Presents ‘Chaos’

Doha Film Institute presents a contemporary film titled ‘Chaos’.

‘Chaos’ narrates the story of three women in three cities – three women who have given up on life. The film is a discussion among one woman stuck in Damascus, a second stuck in exile, and a third who has recently left. It is a conversation between the interior and exterior – which is also an impossible conversation. The movie is directed by Sara Fattahi.

Screening is free of charge, but a ticket is required for admission.

Indian comedian to perform in Doha

Sunil Grover, an Indian actor and stand-up comedian, will be performing first time in Doha.

Grover will be giving everyone a laughter therapy with all his famous characters prominent among of his characters are Guthi, Rinku Bhavi and Doctor Mashur Gulati. The event is named ‘Dr Mashur Gulati Ki Clinic’.

The opening act will be supported by Kiraak Hyderbadis group who are famous stand-up comedy youtubers well known for their mimicry.

15th Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition

More than 250 brands will be taking part in the 15th edition of Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition, Qatar’s most popular showcase of abayas and traditional Arabian attire.

This year’s edition also features international brands from Kuwait, Oman, India, Lebanon, Morocco, China, India, Sri Lanka, England and Belgium.

Offering a unique flavour of Arabian heritage, the Spring/Summer 2019 show will see returning brands including Debaj, Harlienz, the Hammadies (previously Lamar), as well as new exhibitors including, Avenant, Ebru Aykas by Duygu Gume, Saouli by Karima Saouli to mention a few.

Three prestigious designers, namely Pero, 3 clothing and SR will also take part in the exhibition in the Indian Pavilion.

Heya is open for women only except on the opening day, during which men can accompany family members. Children below 13 years old cannot enter the exhibition.

Charity concert at FBQ Museum

Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani (FBQ) Museum is organising a charity concert featuring the renowned MAqam Ensemble, member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and led by Maias Alyamani.

Exploring five periods of Syria’s history, illuminating its key role in the artistic and intellectual history of the world, the exhibition highlights the extraordinary cultural heritage of this country, and at the same time pleads to safeguard this unique legacy in danger.

The concert will be preceded by a project presentation by QRCS and the screening of Syrian short film Mare Nostrum.

Katara 3rd Festival for Oud "Alkindi"

The Cultural Village Foundation is set to launch the third annual Katara Oud Festival under the theme “Al Kindi” the Muslim thinker and scholar.

The festival is decorated with an Iraqi motif as Al Kindi was born in Iraq and features Oud performances at the Opera House where Oud maestros from across the globe will enchant the audience with an extraordinary mix of the East and the West in Oud tradition.

More than 35 prominent Oud players and manufacturers from Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Tunisia, Oman, Greece, Yemen, Syria and Iran are participating at this year’s festival.

Renowned Oud manufacturers such as Yacoub Jassim from Kuwait, Yasser Saleh from Iraq, Ibrahim Sukkar from Syria, Bars and Farouk from Turkey and Yahia Abulfazel from Iran are taking part at the festival.

VCUarts Qatar “EDGE” Fashion Show

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Qatar Foundation and Mall of Qatar will be presenting “EDGE”, the University’s 20th Annual Fashion Show, at the Ooredoo Stage at Mall of Qatar.

The show features collections from sophomore, junior, and senior students from VCUarts Qatar, as well as three senior students from the University’s Richmond campus.
