Doha: The leading retailer Lulu Hypermarket has organised a country-wide promotional campaign named ‘India Fest’, which will run till January 31.
The Fest mainly highlights food and fashion, with great offers on a wide range of food and spices, authentic dishes, and ethnic clothing.
As the entire Indian fraternity is gearing up to celebrate the 72nd Indian Republic Day worldwide, Lulu deemed to make it a memorable experience by hosting the festival in a big way in all its stores scattered across the region.
The festival that celebrates the rich cultural diversity, heritage, tradition, food, food habits, and the versatility of incredible India is being organised in cooperation of the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI), Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council.
Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Dr. Deepak Mittal inaugurated India Fest in Al Gharrafa branch of Lulu Hypermarket yesterday. The event was attended by Director of Lulu Group International, Dr. Mohamed Althaf and a host of important dignitaries from the Ministries and Qatar Chamber.
Speaking to The Peninsula, Dr. Mittal said: “This is a very unique event which Lulu is organising on the 72nd Republic Day of India where we see a long range of products from India including fruits, vegetables, spices, groceries, great cuisine from all part of India connecting Indian expatriates and introducing it to entire population in Qatar.”
He said another aspect which is brought out in this Fest is the organic range including organic pulses, spices, flowers and cotton cloths.
Lulu is a strong ambassador in promoting Indian products. “It is strengthening food security in the country in participating Qatar National Vision 2030 and we feel proud on it," the Ambassador said. Lulu has flown in more than 10,000 products in different categories, from fresh fruits & vegetables to meat, packaged food products, kitchen essentials, and traditional wear like sarees and churidars.
Lulu has highlighted a huge range of freshly prepared hot foods being prepared in store for the entire promotion, from biryani to curries, popular street foods, traditional sweets, and many more delicacies. Speaking to The Peninsula, Dr. Althaf said apart from regular Indian foods and no-food items, some very exclusive items will also be showcased in the festival like high quality saffron from Kashmir, the oldest variety of apples and pomegranates.
“We also offer silk cloths, households and footwear. Many Indian products are very famous in Qatar among citizens and expatriates such as mango and Basmati rice, but what we want to promote besides these products some innovations which are happening in India through this festival,” said Dr. Althaf.
For example he said: “We offer internationally certified Indian organic foods and vegetables and products of international brands made in India.”
Another major highlight was that Dr. Alpna Mittal, wife of Indian Ambassador has inaugurated a promotion on Indian Silk and Ethnic Wear titled ‘Indian Silk and Ethnic Wear Festival 2021’ at Saree Section, as part of the India Fest. A new variant of reusable Jute bag was launched by H E Dr. Deepak Mittal during the inaugural ceremony.
