Doha: To raise awareness about the importance of safety at healthcare facilities, Al-Ahli Hospital held activities to mark the Qatar Patient Safety Week in the presence of a number of medical teams, yesterday.
The Al-Ahli Hospital’s participation in such national initiatives is part of its responsibility as a health institution. One of its priorities is to provide safe, high-quality medical care by professional experts in medical and health care services.
Commenting on this occasion, Jamal Hammad, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Al-Ahli Hospital said: “Al-Ahli Hospital celebrates Qatar Patient Safety Week every year, but this year the way of celebration is different due to the coronavirus pandemic and the need to adhere to the required precautionary measures such as social distancing, wearing face masks and showing the green status on the Ehteraz application.”
“Despite obstacles this year, Al-Ahli Hospital celebrates this important occasion because it demonstrates the efforts of the workers and the cooperation of the Al-Ahli Hospital’s visitors to adhere to health measures,” he said.
Jamal Hammad said that the occasion supports the idea of preventing the spread of the virus as “we were keen to apply social distancing in the halls even in the beginning of coronavirus and all of our employees are committed to these measures”.
“We celebrate this occasion with the participation of nurses and the posters on display that show the hospital’s interest in patient safety,” he said.
He also said that Al-Ahli Hospital was one of the first hospitals in Qatar to check body temperature of guests at the hospital entrances.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain Medical Director, Senior Consultant General Surgeon said that safety is required in everything, especially hospitals, and “we at Al-Ahli Hospital apply all measures required to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus, as all visitors, doctors and others wear face masks and adhere to a safe distance.”
Regarding the participants attended lectures presented by the hospital, he said that the numbers were reduced in compliance with health measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
This year marked the sixth Qatar Patient Safety Week (QPSW) and was held under the theme ‘Health Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety’.
QPSW aimed to promote the concept of patient safety at the national level, urge the community to participate in ensuring healthcare safety and raise awareness about the importance of the safety of health workers and the safety of the work environment to ensure patient safety through a more holistic approach.
