Doha College, a leading British international school based in Doha for over 32 years, has announced an enhanced Leadership Team for the new 2016 school year. Following the appointment of Dr Steffen Sommer as the new Principal in 2015, the school has undergone a number of enhancements with the appointment of a number of experienced and very skilled education professionals into a larger leadership team.
Each member of the new leadership group has taken on, in addition to the roles reflected in their official titles, responsibilities for other diverse segments of school life, linking the primary and secondary schools in a way not implemented before.
Dr Steffen Sommer welcomed the new team: “I am delighted that Doha College has identified such a broad range of talent and experience, and that we have found a way to put it all together in a group that is strong, motivated and will work resolutely for the benefit of our students and the wider community here in Qatar.”
“Doha College has an outstanding track record of excellence in academic results, extra-curricular and sporting achievements. This new leadership team will allow us to maintain and build on our motto, excellence for ell, excellence from all.”
Doha College is one of the oldest British curriculum schools in Qatar providing education to 1914 students, between the ages of 3 and 18, who represent over 72 nationalities.
Established in 1980, the college was proud to celebrate its pearl anniversary in 2010. Originally opened to meet the demand for a British-style education, the institution continues to operate under the sponsorship of the British Embassy on a not-for-profit basis.
The school’s vision is to enable personal growth, instil a passion for learning and create aspirational minds.
