Doha: Doha Municipality has implemented awareness campaigns for workers inside food establishments within its administrative borders.
The campaigns were organised to provide instructions, introduce health requirements that must be met, according to standard specifications, and to display methods of preserving, preparing and circulating foodstuffs.
An introductory explanation was given to workers about food poisoning, its symptoms, causes, ways to reduce it, the risks to which food is exposed, how contaminants are transmitted to food, and the factors that help bacteria grow.
Establishments were also provided with brochures on the basics of food health and safety, and documentary films screening that include common mistakes and how to avoid them, in order to raise awareness of food safety and provide safe and healthy food.
These campaigns come within the framework of the directions and keenness of Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, Director of Doha Municipality, towards the necessity of activating the awareness role in addition to the supervisory role played by the municipality, represented by the Health Control Department in the Municipal Control Department.
