Doha: Al Markhiya at Doha Fire Station is presenting a special exhibition Art Books, featuring 33 artists from 21 countries. The exhibition will start on Tuesday.
Art Books showcases both well-known and new artists who use book structures as their initial inspiration. The participating artists have realised their works in a multitude of shapes, sizes, and media; employing different methods of bookbinding, paper types, folding, 3D design and other technologies to develop unique canvas on which to expand their visual narratives.
Art books are conceived as an original work of art that uses the book format as inspiraton, delivering a distinctive viewing experience. The exhibited artists use both traditional bound book designs and expanded ideas in the form of accordion folded objects, three dimensional cut outs, rolled or scrolled paper, fabric, collage and new media to visually expand their artistic expression. Featured artists in this fascinating exhibition include: Abdallah Akar, Abdiaziz Bube Ashir, Ahmed Reffat Soliman, Ali Al Tajir, Ali Hassan, Bachir Amal, Charles Khoury, Eslam Kamil, Falah Saeedi, Faraj Daham, Hakim Al Akel, Hamza Bounoua, Hassan Al Mulla, Hassan Meer, Hilda Hiary, Himat Mohammed Ali, Issa Halloum, Jamal Abdul Rahim, Jehad Almeri, Khaled Hourani, Lulwah Al Homoud, May Al Mannai, Mohamed Abou El Naga, Mohammad Bin Lamin, Nabil Anani, Najat Makki, Nizar Sabour, Ruqaiya Mazar, Salah El Mur, Salman Al Malek, Thuraya Al Baqsami, Youssef Abdelke, and Zeyneb Chiaa.
