Ooredoo, a leading supporter of sport in the region, yesterday announced their role as the title sponsor of the upcoming Premier Padel Qatar Major 2022, which brings together the world’s padel elite in the opening leg of the brand new World Tour.

The opening round of the €525,000 Tour, established by International Padel Federation (FIP), will be hosted by the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from March 28 to April 2.

Before welcoming the opening leg of Tour, equivalent to Grand Slams in Tennis - or Majors in Golf, Doha was the host city of the World Padel Championship in November last year, in what was widely regarded as the most extravagant padel tournament ever.

With Doha’s state-of-the-art venues and unmatched hosting capabilities, the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022 promises to be another milestone in Qatar’s long list of top-level world class events.

Commenting on their latest partnership with QTSBF, Ooredoo Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani  said: “As title sponsors, we are proud to invite you to share this opportunity to participate in and support the fastest growing sport in the country. Organising last year’s IPF World Padel Championship in Qatar, with the participation of world-class and top ranked players, proved the QTF to be a hugely capable force in sports, attracting the participation of the best male and female teams in the world, and we look forward to seeing another incredible event this year.”

QTSBF Secretary General and Tournament Director Tariq Zainal said the Federation is proud of Ooredoo as the title sponsors for the landmark event.

“On behalf of the President and board of the QTSBF, I would like to thank H E Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Group, and H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Thani, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, and his team for their partnership with us over the years in several of our activities and events.”

“We are very proud of their commitment to the development of padel in Qatar, the region and globally and I’m honoured today that QTSBF and Ooredoo will be signing the partnership agreement by which Ooredoo will be the title sponsor of the Qatar Major Padel event for 3 years,” Zainal added.

“By signing this sponsorship agreement, we are restating our commitment to continue to raise the bar for hosting a world-class padel tournament in line with Qatar’s massive reputation as a global hub for sports and I have no doubt that together, we are going to deliver a great and very successful event.” Zainal said

The sponsorship announcement took place at the Ooredoo Headquarters and was also attended by senior officials of Ooredoo and QTSBF.
