Kusadasi, Turkiye: Following the success of the CineMoon Ensemble’s concerts in Kuşadası, exciting discussions have commenced to facilitate performances by local artists in Qatar.

The Ensemble is a member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO).

In a recent meeting between the CineMoon Ensemble and Levent Köylü, Chairman of the Kuşadası Golden Pigeon Culture, Art, and Promotion Foundation (KUSAV), plans were set in motion for future collaborations.

These discussions envision a reciprocal arrangement where musicians from Kuşadası could have the opportunity to perform live in Doha.

Köylü is poised to embark on his maiden journey to Doha next month. During his visit, he will have the honour of attending concerts of QPO, a remarkable endeavour that aligns with the deepening cultural exchange between the two nations. It can be noted that the orchestra will open its new season in September.

Reflecting on this upcoming collaboration, Merve Kenet Bulun, Founder and Artistic Director of the CineMoon Ensemble, expressed her sincere appreciation.

As a Turkish artist and citizen, she conveyed the immense pride felt in seeing Turkish talents represent their nation on a global stage in Qatar. This signifies a profound cultural bond — one that extends beyond borders. She emphasised that the CineMoon Ensemble as part of the QPO, boasts members hailing from diverse corners of the world, including Italy, Romania, France, Germany, Russia, and South Korea, among others.

The prospect of bringing artists from Kuşadası to Doha holds the promise of further enriching the cultural tapestry that unites the two countries, she said.

Currently captivating audiences as part of the Kuşadası Güvercinada Dinletileri event series, the CineMoon Ensemble has recently staged their first concert of the season. Titled “All About Dance,” this performance drew a full house and set the stage for their second concert, scheduled for August 24, themed “The Seventh Art & Music.”

This thematic performance mirrors a show they delivered in Doha last year.

Both open-air concerts are set to grace the historical venue of Kervansaray, a remarkable architectural relic built adjacent to Kuşadası Pier in 1618. The structure, commissioned by grand vizier Öküz Mehmet Pasha, boasts a rectangular courtyard surrounded by sturdy, towering walls, as well as two floors of indoor spaces characterised by charming porches. Constructed using a blend of recycled and natural stone materials, Kervansaray boasts the appearance of a miniature fortress with its distinctive triangular-tipped dentil.

Ramon, who attended the concert and a native of Spain, marvelled at the enchanting experience of listening to the CineMoon Ensemble within such a venerable setting.

He extended his commendation to Kuşadası and KUSAV for facilitating the Ensemble’s performance and sharing their music in Türkiye.

Charles, a vacationer from Istanbul, stumbled upon the concert serendipitously while wandering around Kervansaray.

Impressed by the experience, he said: “The music’s resonance within the venue is truly indescribable. You must witness it firsthand to truly grasp its magnificence.”
