President of Qatar Press Center H E Saad bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi has lauded Qatar TV for its achievements on the occasion of 52nd anniversary of the channel.
Speaking to The Peninsula, Al Rumaihi said Qatar TV has emerged as a leading media outlet providing a great platform for addressing local issues and giving intensive coverage of local events and activities.
“The channel has won hearts and minds of viewers including Qatari citizens and nationals of other GCC countries and Arab through its programmes and intensive coverage of local events and activities,” said Al Rumaihi.
He suggested Qatar TV to go further on coverage of local issues by broadcasting dedicated programmes hosting local authorities for open discussions with people on their issues.
“Throughout this long journey, staff and management of Qatar TV made great efforts with their dedicated services taking the channel to a leading position in GCC,” said Al Rumaihi.
On the occasion of 52nd anniversary of the launch of official broadcast of Qatar TV, he said: “I would like to greet leaders, staff, and all affiliates of Qatar TV.”
He said that Qatar TV secured a prominent position among TV channels in GCC and other Arab countries as it is broadcasting a number of programmes and covers many events keeping pace with the fast development of the country.
“The vast and extensive coverage of Qatar TV is showing the importance of the channel among a large number of viewers,” said Al Rumaihi.
He said that the new generation, the young cadres of Qatar TV, will keep playing their roles with dedication to take the channel to new heights.
“The staffers of the channel, including male and female, have been making great contributions to make it a desirable TV channel for all viewers,” said Al Rumaihi.
“I hope that Qatar TV will remain an excellent media outlet to broadcast different types of programmes in all fields,” he said praying for the success of the channel.
Regarding the programmes of Qatar TV, he said: “The channel can keep broadcasting its programmes because they are very useful for viewers. Moreover, there are wide fields of coverage for events, especially local events.”
However, he said there are specialised channels, for example sports channels, which are covering a wide range of sports activities and matches.
“I hope from Qatar TV to keep focusing on local issues and local events, conducting interviews with concerned persons like ministers, undersecretaries, directors, and officials to make Qatar TV voice of viewers and provide them useful information that they are looking for,” said Al Rumaihi.
Therefore, he said, it is very important for Qatar TV to focus on local issues more than any other issues related to Arab countries and the international community.
To a question about the programmes of Qatar TV that invite officials and other concerned persons to discuss local issues, he said: “Hayatna programme and others are very useful. I wish from Qatar TV to broadcast weekly episodes to host important personalities such as a minister, undersecretary, director and official for open discussion with them and public.”
For example, he said, the programme ‘Lakum Al Qarar’ (You Decide) hosted a group of senior government officials and made fruitful discussions with them.
“The programme attracted a large number of viewers. I hope that such programmes will be broadcast in the future,” said Al Rumaihi.
“Qatar TV as local channel should keep focusing on covering local issues and events. I believe that local channels can make a difference in two things – covering local issues and broadcasting serials,” he added
He said that Qatar TV had made a good name in broadcasting historical serials for long time ago as it broadcast a number of famous serials even the new generation presented a number of impressive serials such as Dhiqar and Hajjaj among others that left a deep footprint in the heart of viewers.
