Cityscape enhances role of private sector: Al Sulaiti

DOHA: Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, said yesterday that Cityscape Qatar 2018 exhibition enhances the role of the private sector as a key partner in sustainable development as it includes a number of companies offering the latest real estate projects and provides companies, businessmen and the private sector with the opportunity to engage in dialogue and dealings.

Speaking on the sideline of Cityscape exhibition, that began yesterday at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, he highlighted the role played by the Ministry in supporting the country’s plans to diversify the economy through a number of its pioneering projects such as the Rail project and other infrastructure projects that includes roads and bridges.

The Minister noted that the current edition has seen a signing of a number of agreements on important projects, in addition to the communications and infrastructure projects that were proposed. Qatar Rail signed important contracts with QNB, Ooredoo, and Qatar Insurance.

He expressed his pleasure that the participation of Qatar Rail at Cityscape 2018 comes as part of efforts to promote sustainable development in the country. It will also see the promotion and sale of naming rights for a number of Rail stations to companies, before they open. These stations are essential to the metro project, which is being completed as scheduled.

He stressed that the stations have global designs, taking into consideration that they include the Qatari heritage and splendor, and that the method of operation will be optimal in order to ensure the achievement of the principle of full sustainability and durability of stations.

This year’s show boasts a line-up of up to 50 exhibitors across more than 9,000 sqm of exhibition space, and brings together heavyweight industry stakeholders from Qatar and abroad.

Cityscape Qatar will run daily until Wednesday provides home buyers  an opportunity to network, gain valuable market insight, seek advice on their next real estate purchase. “It’s an exciting time to be part of the real estate sector in the country. Over the next few days, our exhibitors will showcase a range of projects that will no doubt change the skyline of Qatar as the future of the country is epitomised on the show floor,” he said.

CEO of Barwa Real Estate Salman Mohamad Al Muhannadi said that cityscape Qatar 2018 provides an exceptional platform to review projects and strengthen relations with investors and real estate developers. He added that Barwa is able to showcase its projects such as Lusail Project, which the group plans to launch soon after obtaining the required approvals.

He added that the project will be a pleasant surprise to the real estate market and will be a living application of Barwa’s new development philosophy, which is based on creating a new architectural footprint for the Group that achieves the ideal balance between traditional and modern architecture inspired by Qatari heritage.

Lusail land project is strategically located in Lusail and is the largest project in the Middle East of this size . The 3.5 million square meter project aims to create an integrated residential city to provide 15,000 housing units and its service facilities to accommodate more than 40,000 people with the provision of all service facilities, and the vast green spaces, which reach one million square meters. Barwa is offering another project in the city of Lusail, which is located in the northern region of Fox Hills. It consists of two phases, Darra A, which is nearing completion, and the BF, both will be released soon.

Al Mohannadi said Barwa’s pavilion at the exhibition will also include the workers ‘city project on Salwa Road. It is the latest initiative by Barwa to meet the needs of the workers and aims to improve the housing conditions for them by developing a sustainable residential environment in terms of Quality and security and provide all required services and facilities, and the Group intends to complete its development in December this year.
