Doha: The Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar HE Khaled Badr Al Mutairi affirmed that Kuwait's celebration of its National Day (the 62nd anniversary of independence and the 32nd anniversary of liberation) is an occasion to affirm the independence of Kuwait, as well as the unity and solidarity of its people in face of challenges.
His Excellency said in a press statement today that the National Day is an opportunity to recall the Kuwait people's valor at the time, as well as to remember and cherish the noble stance of the sisterly GCC states, the Arab states, and the international coalition of friends who did not rest until the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait and the legitimacy of the honorable rule of the Al-Sabah family and that of the Kuwaiti people were regained, expressing his pride in the solidarity and unity that arose during the difficult times and the great sacrifices made by GCC member states' forces at the frontier to liberate Kuwait, with the sisterly State of Qatar playing a prominent role in the epic of restoring the rights of the Kuwaiti people and the struggle against the invaders.
He stressed that Kuwait and thanks to its leadership continues to be on the path towards development on all fronts, especially given that Kuwait will remain a source of confidence for the world by spreading a culture of peace, love and cooperation, unifying efforts in the serves of security, stability, and prosperity of the region and the world, in addition to enjoying a privileged position and reputation regionally and internationally since its establishment and independence in 1961.
On this occasion, the Ambassador affirmed the strong and deep-rooted relations between his country and Qatar on all levels, with both countries enjoying special and distinct relations of common features, based on the unity of destiny and purpose, and the common pursuit of integration and interdependence in all vital areas which materializes the aspirations of their peoples, pointing out that these relations reflect the determination of the wise political leaderships of the two sisterly countries to push and elevate these relations to higher and more integrated levels.
In the same context, HE Khaled Badr Al Mutairi noted Qatar's inauguration of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor in the capital, Doha, in appreciation of his stances and efforts to preserve security and stability in the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) region, stressing the importance of the historical extent of Kuwaiti-Qatari relations, and their consolidation over the years, their passing through prominent stations that led to the consolidation of bilateral communication, be it bilateral, regional, or an international organizations' level, particularly through the GCC.
His Excellency highlighted that Kuwait and Qatar have accomplished great growth and development under their wise leaderships, considering that the success and development of Kuwait represent success and development for Qatar and that the happiness and well-being of the Qatari people delight their Kuwaiti brothers, in addition to having security and stability as a mutual goal, praising Qatar's contributions in resolving regional disputes and its efforts to bringing divergent points of view closer.
The Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar referred to the many areas of cooperation that bind his country with Qatar, whether political, economic, trade and investment, as well as military, security, educational, touristic and technical cooperation, where a joint supreme committee was established on June 18, 2002; in order to create a twinning between the sisterly countries, covering all aspects of cooperation.
His Excellency talked about the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, which is experiencing a constant increase, as a shipping line was launched between Hamad Port and Kuwaiti Shuwaikh Port in August of 2017, played a pivotal role in doubling the volume of trade exchange, and facilitated the transporting of goods, especially food to and from Qatar on a regular basis.
HE Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar Khaled Badr Al Mutairi pointed to the continuous rise in the number of Kuwaiti companies that entered the Qatari market with 100 percent ownership, exceeding 170 companies, while the number of joint Qatari-Kuwaiti companies operating in the Qatari market exceeded 656 companies.
His Excellency added that air traffic between Qatar and Kuwait is also another proof of the development of bilateral relations, which the State of Kuwait is keen to strengthen and develop further.
At the end of his statement, HE Khaled Badr Al Mutairi valued the existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, as there are many Kuwaiti students who receive their higher education in Qatar. Additionally, His Excellency added that great military cooperation exists between both countries, where the number of Kuwaiti students enrolled in military colleges in Qatar has reached 69 students, not to mention the joint military exercises between both Armed Forces held in the two countries.
