Bernabeu downs Danish to reach semis in Doha

Doha: Qualifier Iker Pajares Bernabeu of Spain defeated third seed Danish Atlas Khan to book  a place in the semi-finals of the Qatar Circuit 2 squash tournament.
Yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, the 19-year-old took nearly one hour to defeat Danish, ranked 82 places higher in the PSA world rankings.
The Spaniard, who defeated Qatar’s Abdullah Al Tamimi on Sunday, continued from where he left off.
Yesterday, Bernabeu, ranked 155 in the world, took the first two games but suffered a wobble in the third game but bounced back to take the fourth to win 11-7, 5-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-8.
Bernabeu will take on top seed Omar Abdel Meguid of Egypt in  today’s semi-final.
Meguid overcame compatriot      Youssef Soliman in straight games 11-3, 11-7, 11-6.
In the other quarter-finals, Jens Schoor of Germany defeated Martin Knight of New Zealand.
