Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Thursday, September 22, 2022 announced the completion of the rainwater drainage network on the roads surrounding Al Sadd Sports Club as part of the preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The work included repaving and rehabilitation of roads and parking lots, as well as the installation of road markings, sidewalks and pedestrian paths, additional bus entrances, and special-needs paths, all while maintaining their aesthetic appearance.

"The drainage works surrounding Al Sadd SC are part of Ashghal’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, to protect the roads surrounding the club, training stadiums and fan zones from rainwater accumulations and to find sustainable solutions to protect the properties such as schools and mosques," said Eng. Khaled Al Khayarin, Manager of Drainage Networks Projects Department (DNPD) at Ashghal.

Al Khayarin noted that the project was done in coordination with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and Al Sadd Sports Club.

In addition, Ashghal also announced the repaving of Talha bin Khaled Street, which connects Al Shammal Road with Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and Ahmad Bin Taymiyah Street to link Salwa Road to Al Waab Road.
