DOHA: Mishal Al Naimi got pole position in the qualifying session and will lead the grid with his Honda bike in the seventh round of the Qatar International Road Racing Championship (QIRRCH), at Losail International Circuit.
The Qatari rider didn’t have a good set up in the free practice session but in qualifying, he made some adjustments with his bike and he felt very confident and made a good lap timing with 2.02.997.
Nasser Al Malki, who dominated the practices sessions made a lap time of 2.03.061.
The newly-crowned champion Alex Cudlin will close the front row on the grid.
After the qualifying session ended, Cudlin said: “The qualifying went okay but we still have some problems with the suspension of the bike with a lot of chattering.”
The 2013 champion added: “We have to look for the problem but unfortunately we don’t have too much time so we will do some changes tomorrow to see if it works.”
In the Qatar National Road Racing Championship (QNRRCH), Abdulaziz Abdulla clinched the pole position having made the best time in qualifying with a time of 2.22.883.
“The qualifying practice today was successful and better lap timing than the last race and for sure tomorrow it will be a tough race as it is the last race and the championship is not yet decided,” said Abdulla.
Alongside Abdulla will be Talal Wehbe who made the second best timing.
“I changed my tyres in the qualifying session and I improve my lap timing from the free practice, so I hope better times tomorrow for the race,” Wehbe said after qualifying
In the Production Class, Peter De Vido from Canada clocked the best time.
De Vido said: “Between the free and qualifying session I made some set up changes which was very good and I look forward a good battle tomorrow with some drivers fighting for the championship tomorrow, so for sure a good race tomorrow.”
