Doha: The Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that Sunday, May 24, 2020, is the first day of the blessed Eid Al Fitr in Qatar.
This came in a statement by the committee headed by its chairman Sheikh Dr Thaqil Al Shammari, following a meeting today at the headquarters of the ministry.

In its statement, the Crescent Sighting Committee said it held its meeting on Friday evening, Ramadan 29, 1441 AH, corresponding to May 22, 2020 to sight the crescent of Shawwal month, and prove the testimony of who sees it. The Committee said the crescent sighting was not confirmed tonight. As a result, Saturday, May 23, 2020, will be the last day of Ramadan and Sunday will be the first day of the blessed Eid Al Fitr.
The Committee extends greetings on the occasion of advent of the blessed Eid Al Fitr to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as the honorable government, the people of Qatar and all Muslims.
