Nerve-wracking match sends social media into frenzy; over 25 million WhatsApp messages sent per second

Doha: This World Cup has been exceptional with many records set. One such record has been made by the messaging app WhatsApp. 

In a tweet, it stated that more than 25 million messages per second were exchanged during the nerve-wracking penalty kicks between Argentina and France in the FIFA World Cup Final. Adding that it was glad to have been part of the tournament. 

Mark Zuckerberg the Founder and CEO of Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp and Facebook, also stated this on his social media channel as he wrote, "Leo Messi's World Cup post is now the most liked in Instagram history. WhatsApp also reached a record 25 million messages per second during the final."

Also in another development Twitter CEO Elon Musk said that the microblogging platform witnessed 24,400 tweets per second for France's goal, "highest ever for World Cup!" 

Google CEO Sundar Pichai also stated that the search engine recorded the highest ever traffic in 25 year during the final as he tweeted, "Search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the final of #FIFAWorldCup, it was like the entire world was searching about one thing!"
