Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department on its twitter account informed residents of continuous convective cloud development with thunderstorms in central and northern areas including Umm Bab, Al Ruwais, and Al Ghuwariyah.

Thunderstorms are also observed at Ras Laffan, Al-Khor, Al-Atoriya, Al-Jumailiya and offshore in Um Bab.

The weather department radar also detected strong winds exceeding 30 knots and heavy rains in Shahniyah and Al Khor, reducing the visibility to less than 1km.

The department had tweeted earlier that “thunderstorms are likely to continue on Sunday and Monday especially at noon and evening time.”

A Peninsula reader shared a video of heavy rain accompanied by hail in Al Sakhama, in the northern part of the country.
