Doha: As part of ongoing efforts to promote health awareness among the different segments of the society, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Development Company (UDC) to implement the Workplace Wellness Program.

Under the initiative, UDC will be coordinating with the MoPH to launch internal campaigns on health education and promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst its employees.

The MoU was signed at the Ministry building yesterday by Dr Salah Al Yafie, Acting Director, Health Promotion and Non-Communicable Diseases at MoPH and Nasser Al Harmi, Executive Director, Human Capital, UDC.

“This initiative is in line with objectives of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and the Public Health Strategy of 2017-2022 to improve the health and wellbeing of our workforce and reducing the prevalence on non-communicable diseases.

The agreement signed with UDC will aim at improving the lifestyle of employees by encouraging them to adopt and healthy lifestyle and improve their safety at workplace,” said Dr Al Yafie during a press conference held to coincide with the MoU signing.

“The program’s integrated plan will include surveys and feedback sessions, followed by informational and engagement sessions to raise awareness on nutrition, physical activity, smoking hazards, stress management and prevention of infectious diseases,” he added.

According to Al Harmi, the memorandum of understanding comes as part of UDC’s comprehensive corporate social responsibility framework, which focuses on health, education, community and environment.

“We are pleased to be partnering with the Ministry of Public Health to introduce the Workplace Wellness Program across our organisation.
