One of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, the Dusit International, which marked its entry into the Qatari market by opening the Dusit Doha Hotel in April, is set to open its second Dusit-branded property in the country next year.

The Dusit Doha Hotel & Suites, which will add another 197 suites and apartment units as well as three F&B outlets to Qatar’s growing hospitality market, is expected to open in the West Bay area in the next six to seven months, said Gerhard Stutz, Cluster General Manager for Dusit Doha Hotel and Dusit Doha Hotel & Suites in Qatar.

“We will open the Dusit Doha Hotel & Suites in six or seven months. One of the F&B outlets will be an Indian restaurant and another one will be an all-day dining restaurant. And possibly we’ll also open a nice cigar lounge,” said Stutz while talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the celebration of Thailand’s Loy Krathong Festival which was hosted by Dusit Doha Hotel on Monday.

The five-star Dusit Doha Hotel, which is still on its soft opening phase, is also set for its grand opening which will likely be held in early January, added Stutz. Being groomed to be a market leader in Qatar’s hotel industry, about 90 percent of the hotel’s 357 guestrooms, suites, and apartments are now open for accommodation.

“Two restaurants are already open, including the contemporary all-day dining restaurant Taste, and Dusit’s signature Thai restaurant, Benjarong which will also be open soon for lunch. By this weekend, we will open The House, which will offer premium steaks, seafood, and a lounge and bar concept. And hopefully at the beginning of December, we’ll open the Antoinette’s Café which will serve fresh French pastries. And then the hotel will be fully open and up and running,” Stutz added.

During the past few months, the hotel has had a 63 percent occupancy rate, while 85 percent of its apartment units are rented out, said Stutz. With the growing popularity of Thai cuisine in Doha, the hotel is also planning to conduct outside catering and cooking classes through its Benjarong restaurant in the future. The restaurant currently serves centuries old recipes of Thai cuisine made using authentic ingredients.

The annual Thai festival which was held at the luxury hotel’s rooftop poolside, was also attended by Thailand’s Ambassador to Qatar Nathapol Khantahiran and a number of VIP guests and corporate clients.
