Safety tips from weather bureau during thunderstorms

Doha: As Doha witnessed heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has published few safety tips to be followed during thunderstorms.

The weather bureau urged people to “Stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid standing on roofs, or near high trees and electricity poles, make sure to close the windows if you are inside a car and 
stay away from open water.”

The weather condition is expected to continue till Monday. 
“Due to unstable weather conditions expected till Monday, sea riders are advised to take caution especially during afternoon and evening time where thunderstorms are likely to form,” QMD said.
