DFI's 'Magicians of the Light' series
The Doha Film Institute Cinema will celebrate the vision of cinematographers who experiment with light to make their imaginations a compelling cinematic experience with the ‘Magicians of the Light’ screenings. Films by accomplished filmmakers that demonstrate how they pushed the boundaries of cinematography to leave their legacy on cinematic history.
In addition to the screenings is a masterclass by Richard Peña, Professor of Film Studies at Columbia University and Director of the New York Film Festival from 1988 to 2012, who will offer a visually stunning survey of cinematography in cinema. The masterclass will take place on Sept 22 at 4PM.
The movies to be screened are:
Sansho the Bailiff: September 20 at 7:00PM
The Seventh Seal: September 21 at 4:00PM
Days of Heaven: September 21 at 7:00PM
Road to Perdition: September 22 at 7:00PM
The prices of the tickets are QAR 35 (regular) and QAR 75 (package).

AIR Exhibition
Imaginative works by Qatari artists at the ongoing Dual Inspirations exhibition at the Fire Station is definitely worth a visit for the sheer originality of concept and message. The ten Qatari artists’ works on show are a product of another successful Artist in Residence programme which ran for nine months at the Fire Station.
All newly executed artworks identify with the masterpieces from the Mathaf collection, and constitute beautiful counterpoints that incite the imagination.

Empty cluster bomb and artillery shells that left people dead have been turned into beautiful works of art that symbolise life by Syrian artist and activist Akram Sweidan, photos of which are on display at the “Embracing Life” exhibition.

Weekly Knitting and Crochet Circle
Qatar National Library is hosting a gathering for knitters and crocheters to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or can borrow QNL needles and yarn. All skill levels welcome including beginners who are interested in learning.
