Damage caused by a bomb blast is seen on the Brahma statue at the Erawan shrine - the popular tourist site where 20 people were killed on August 17 - in central Bangkok on August 20, 2015.

DOHA: A Qatari man sustained “slight injuries” when passing in a taxi “some distance” from the site of the explosion in Thailand on Monday, a news portal quoted from a statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa).

According to Dohanews the man has been identified only as Essa and is at Bumrungrad International Hospital, one of Southeast Asia’s largest private hospitals.

He is expected to be discharged from hospital today, Mofa added in its statement.

The Ministry did not name him, but said he lived in Thailand without his family.

“We were careful not to provoke panic among his family or among the citizens who are brothers,” the statement added.
