Doha: Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum (FBQ Museum) has announced that Family Fun Friday will be a permanent fixture in its calendar from September.
Offering a perfect weekend outing for families, fun-filled activities include museum tours with guides and workshops for families and children to explore artistic talents and learn new skills using lego, calligraphy, collage and sculpture.
Lego workshops aim to bring out children’s creativity using lego learning tools. Painting and drawing workshops encourage children to interpret the museum’s collections and create their artwork to take home. Calligraphy is taught by expert Arab artists to raise awareness of forms used in art.
Collage workshop is all about getting messy, using recycled paper and other materials to produce imaginative creations.
Sculpture workshop aims to teach children how to come up with shapes and forms to create ornaments and decorative art objects. All workshops take place on Fridays and Saturdays and for all opening times and bookings call the museum on +974 4486 1444 or email: [email protected].
The new café provides snacks and refreshments with children’s menus serving healthy options and there is adjoining Museum Education area.
The Gift Shop offers visitors a selection of locally sourced and designed products promoting Qatari culture which make great souvenirs and gifts. Booking your visit is necessary by visiting the website.
The museum opening hours have changed and it now opens on Fridays from 2pm to 7pm and is open every day of the week from September 1. Entry fee on weekends are: Free for children under eight, QR10 for age group 8-18 and QR15 for adults. Workshops cost QR50 per participant.
