Doha: Qatar Airways Chief Executive HE Akbar Al Baker said on Monday that freight demand will drop because of inflation.

He added that airlines will not be able to absorb all rising costs, and some will have to be passed on to passengers.

There will soon be a downward pressure on air freight yields, Al Baker added.

Al Baker stated this at the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting where the top leadership from airlines, the aviation value chain and governments has gathered as the aviation industry faces complex and dynamic operating, business and geopolitical environments.

Al Baker said, "This is a major event for our industry and the timing could not be more suitable, as we continue to face complex operating and commercial issues in the aviation industry.”
