Doha: Gen Dahlan Al Hamad of Qatar got re-elected as the Asian Athletics Association President for the term of 2019-2023 at the 23rd Asian Athletics Congress held in Doha today. He had a landslide victory cornering 30 votes against the Jordanian candidate who could muster only 13 votes. The UAE candidate withdrew from the election.
Following his victory Dahlan offered his gratitude to all 45 member federations for trusting in his leadership and he vowed to continue his work to take all member federation together to develop and strengthen Asian Athletics.
For the first time in the history of Asian Athletics, four women members were elected on the governing council.
