Lausanne: The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) handed over on Monday in Lausanne the bid file to host either the 2021 or 2023 FINA World Championships.

Qatar Swimming Association President Khaleel Al Jabir handed over the bid file to the FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu, Qatar Olympic Committee website reported. Al Jaber said that the bid was endorsed by President of Qatar Olympic Committee H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. Doha hosted the World Short-Course Championships in December 2014.
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) will choose the host cities for the 2021 and 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest on January 31. It will coincide with World Aquatics Gala and Award Dinner due to be held in the Hungarian capital on the same day.
Last June, FINA said it had received expressions of interest from seven countries, including Argentina and Turkey, neither of which have hosted the event before.  QNA
