Muscat - The Omani authorities announced on Sunday a set of decisions within the framework of easing the precautionary measures imposed in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including allowing individuals who received the first dose of the vaccine in mosques for Friday prayers.

Oman News Agency reported that the, Supreme Committee, which is tasked with tackling developments resulting from COVID-19 pandemic, decided to allow those who took at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in mosques for Friday prayers and re-open places of worship.

The decision is effective until the end of September 2021, provided that mosques and areas of worship operate at 50 percent of their space capacity.

The Committee also allowed holding group activities (religious, social, cultural, sports), exhibitions and conferences, provided that those who received at least one dose of vaccines are allowed until the end of September 2021.

Furthermore, the Supreme Committee decided to cease the implementation of the institutional quarantine decision for passengers arriving from Iraq and Iran, allowing passengers arriving from Iraq and Iran to undergo the same procedures imposed on arrivals from other countries of the world.

These decisions came after reviewing the reports that showed a decrease in the number of cases infected with the COVID-19 virus, and the decline in cases in hospitals and intensive care, as well as the number of deaths at the local level, the Supreme Committee declared.
