Sunday to be first day of Eid astronomically, QCH dismisses social media rumours

Doha: Qatar Calendar House (QCH) said today that, based on astronomical calculations, Saturday will be the final day of Ramadan with Eid beginning Sunday. 

Some unverified social media outlets reported Qatar Calendar House announcing Saturday as the first day of Eid Al Fitr. QCH dismissed those reports and stressed that the authority for sighting Shawwal crescent belongs to the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in the State of Qatar.
