Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramma) represented by the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) opened yesterday a sustainability bazaar, the first mobile market to offer eco-friendly materials as part of a ten-day carnival at Kahramaa Awareness Park (KAP).

The fourth Tarsheed Carnival, with a theme of ‘It Is Time For Change’, is an important platform to create awareness of sustainability and environment protection. Government institutions and private companies will showcase their achievements in sustainability sector in the form of various activities at the carnival which will run until February 27.

Tarsheed Carnival will receive school students in the morning from 8am to 12pm and general public in the evening from 4pm to 9pm. The carnival will be open to general public on weekend in the evening only.

“The fourth Tarsheed Carnival will host many events such as the Sustainability Bazaar, which is the first mobile market that provides environmentally friendly materials to support small and medium youth projects, within the framework of Kahramaa’s support for these projects within the framework of its social responsibility,” said President of Kahramaa, Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari.

He said the carnival witnessed a great turnout from the public and school students, which reflects the response of the community to the initiatives by Tarsheed programme.

“The programme helped in achieving goal of reaching all groups and segments of society and understanding the message of rationalisation in reducing electricity and water consumption and protecting the environment,” said Al Kuwari.

Vodafone Qatar’s Chief Executive Officer, Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Al Thani, said: “Environmental sustainability is one of Vodafone Qatar’s strategic pillars, the one we have integrated as a strong corporate value across the business, from our supply chain to all our activities, and down to operational level. We look forward to demonstrating these values to visitors at the Tarsheed Carnival through our digital safety awareness activity,

AmanTech, which is one of the ways we help educate and engage our next generation.”
