DOHA: The Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) is taking part in the 4th round of the FINA World Cup Short Course Swimming Championship in Dubai.
Abdullah Mohamed Al Yahri, Khalid Walid Jassim, Abdulrahman Eiss Al Ishaq and Walid Rafiq Dalloul are some of the swimmers who are competing in the two-day championship, which ends in Dubai today.
QSA informed that Abdulrahman and Walid had participated in the two rounds, held in the Dutch city of Eindhoven on August 7 and 8, and the second round which was staged in Berlin, Germany on August 10-11.
The Qatar swimming team has been training in Czech Republic from Augsut 10 to September 3, in preparations for the 23rd GCC Aquatic Games Championship to he hosted in Oman from October 27 to 30, next year, the QSA said.
Doha will be the next stop of the FINA World Cup Short Course Swimming Championship.
The swimming competition in Doha has attracted the participation of world’s top athletes and will take place at Hamad Aquatic Center on October 20 and 21.
More than 200 swimmers from 40 countries have confirmed their participation in the two-day elite event, which Doha is organising for the second year. Qatar will compete with eight swimmers.
Keen contests are on the cards as the Doha stop-over offers $102,000 in prize money.
Leading swimmers from China, Australia, Netherlands, US, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, South Africa, France, Tunisia and Brazil are among those taking part, organizers said.
