Doha: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Sharq Group H E Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani Al Thani held a meeting recently with the CEO of Dar Al Sharq Abdul Latif Abdullah Al Mahmoud and Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula Dr. Khalid Al-Shafi; Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq Sadiq Mohammad Al Amari; Editor-in-Chief of Al Arab Abdullah Talib Al Marri and Editor-in-Chief of Lusail Mohamed Hajji to discuss the latest developments and preparations that the newspapers have done for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Khalid stressed that the Dar Al Sharq Group will provide full support for intensive coverage of the mega sporting event by harnessing all capabilities to make the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab World a great success.

He noted that with the huge capability of competitiveness, the newspapers of Dar Al Sharq will lead the local, Arab and international media in providing strong coverage of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Sheikh Dr. Khalid said that the social media platforms and websites run by the newspapers of the Group including The Peninsula, Al Sharq, Al Arab and Lusail will also be an important factor in showcasing the Qatari achievement in organising the World Cup for all football lovers in Qatar, GCC and Arab world.

He lauded the human resources, including the technical and IT staff of Dar Al Sharq, to enhance the presence of Dar Al Sharq newspapers in the market and give very exclusive coverage of the mega event.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors reviewed the printing capabilities of Dar Al Sharq, enabling it to print foreign newspapers during the World Cup and distribute them to the public across the country.

At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Khalid expressed his pride in the position that the group and its newspapers reached, overcoming all challenges, and urged them to move forward and make efforts to reap more success in the coming period.

Dar Al Sharq is the largest media group in Qatar, which publishes the most widely read newspapers in the country, including The Peninsula, Al Sharq, Lusail and Al Arab.
