DOHA: All Qatari citizens in Bangkok where a powerful bomb explosion took place yesterday killing at least 19 people and leaving many others injured, are safe, according to Qatar’s ambassador to Thailand.
Jaber bin Ali Al Dosri said that all Qataris who were in Bangkok at the time of the explosion were away from the site of the unfortunate incident.
The explosion took place in a crowded area and that was why it led to the death of so many people.
“The embassy of Qatar in Bangkok has communicated with all Qatari citizens in Bangkok and guided them properly and urged them to be careful to guarantee their safety and security,” said the ambassador.
“I have asked all fellow Qatari citizens to be careful especially during commuting and moving in and around tourist and commercial areas which are located in the heart of the city,” the envoy told Al Sharq.
The embassy has particularly urged Qatari citizens to remain away from CentralWorld Shopping Plaza, which is Bangkok’s main attraction being shopping and entertainment centre. It is sixth largest such facility in the world.
