DOHA: The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has begun making preparations to hold Eid Al Adha Festival, which will be a five-day affair.
Various other agencies like the Katara Cultural Village will be participating in the Eid Festival. They will do the fireworks.
This was disclosed yesterday by head of public relations at the QTA, Faisal Al Mohannadi. Different activities will be held during the Eid Festival, he told reporters.
Addressing a news briefing, Al Mohannadi said that during the five-day festival various commercial complexes will also be taking part in the Eid festivities.
“We are now getting feedback from the people about the ongoing Qatar Summer Festival,” said the QTA’s PR director.
The feedbacks particularly about the Entertainment City, are quite encouraging, he said. There has been substantial increase in the number of visitors to the Summer Festival this year than last year’s. For example, in the first week itself the number of people who visited the Entertainment City was 78,900, a huge turnout as compared to last year’s Qatar Summer Festival. According to Al Mohannadi, the Entertainment City draws on average 5,000 to 12,000 visitors a day and on days like Fridays when it is weekly off days, the turnout of people increases beyond 12,000.
“Fridays are the days when the Entertainment City attracts the largest number of people.”
Al Mohannadi said that Qatari families are not the only ones visiting and liking the Entertainment City but there has been a rise in the number of expatriate families visiting the facility as well.
