Doha: QU Health at Qatar University (QU) recently organised a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the Blood Donor Centre at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), under the slogan 'Save a Life, Donate Blood'.
The campaign was successful with the participation of a large number of QU students, faculty, and staff. More than 100 students and employees participated in the campaign out of which 20 male and female donors donated blood.
The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation, encourage the donors and facilitate their participation. QU Health periodically organises blood donation campaigns to support the healthcare system in Qatar and to strengthen the community service role of QU.
Dr. Alla El Awaisi, Director of Clinical Operations and Engagement in the Office of Vice President for Medical and Health Sciences at QU, said: “Donating blood is one of the ways to maintain your health, as it stimulates the production of new blood and the blood circulation, and the blood you donate plays a critical role in people’s lives. It helps save lives in many cases and we strongly encourage our QU community members to participate in these campaigns."
