55 communities take part in Friendship Parade

In their traditional clothes, more than 55 communities participated yesterday evening in the Friendship Parade at Darb Al Saai in order to show the unity to the beloved country the State of Qatar.

Around 2,500 people wielding Qatari flags joined the Friendship Parade, which represents the historical context of solidarity between Qataris and expatriates.

Cheering and chanting words “I love Qatar”, the participants also showed their traditions and culture in a way that meet the National Day vision.

It shows the keenness of the State of Qatar to appreciate positive contributions of expatriates in the light of strong relations Qatar has with other brotherly and friendly countries. It also reflects the pride expressed by Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on citizens and residents in his historic speech at the United Nations.

“The parade reflects the strong relationship between communities and Qataris. The communities keened to come and share with citizens their joy of celebration of the National Day,” said one of the participants.

“This year celebrations are unique. Expats and Qataris proved that they are united and standing behind the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and this unity is the real vision behind the Qatar National Day celebrations,” said a citizen Jassim.

The communities represented countries from all continents. The countries included Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, Sudan, Algeria, Somalia, Mali, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Lebanon, Japan, Syria, Iran, Greece, Egypt, Nepal, and South Africa.

Also a number of ambassadors in Qatar attended Darb Al Saai celebration yesterday. “It was amazing to see all these communities together representing different countries and cultures but keened to prove their unity with citizens. We should do more for Qatar, it deserves a lot from us and our participation is not less than a duty.” said a participant from Malaysia.

“We are living in Qatar since many years and we came to share Qataris’ celebration of the National Day. Also we want to tell citizens that we are together with them,” said a participant from South Africa.

It was for the first time that expatriate communities participate in the National Day celebrations at Darb Al Saai through this new activity “Friendship Parade” which represents historical context of solidarity between Qataris and expatriates.
