DPS Monarch International School opens in Al Wukair

Monarch International School, a purpose-built state-of-the-art digital school, has joined the family of DPS schools in Qatar. 

Located in the most serene locations of Wukair, near Wakrah and close to the state of the art Al Janoub Stadium, Monarch International School was inaugurated in a grand celebration held at the school’s premises on Wednesday. 

DPS Family of schools is also now venturing on opening the very first Indian higher education institute in Qatar for which licensing and approvals work is under progress.

The celebration was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Ibrahim Saleh Al Nuaimy and the Ambassador of India to Qatar, P Kumaran. The function was presided over by the school’s Chief Patron, Mohamed bin Hamam Al Abdulla.

Addressing the ceremony, the ambassador said that DPS Monarch International School is 16th international school in Qatar which will help meet the demand of seats by Indian community which grew substantially during past few years. 

“We continue facing pressure in meeting increasing demand of seats. There are some new schools in pipeline which will help to manage the challenges of the community in providing quality education,” said the ambassador.

He said that the school will provide education with difference. “I believe that education is not meant only to  develop intellectual skills but also has another aspects such as physical training, social skills engaging in social act,” he added.

The School President, Hasan Chougule said that the school’s building was completed in a record 15 months and the school opened doors to the students of Qatar on  September 1, 2019. “The student strength since has been growing and reached around 550 children and their families find the new curriculum of the school very interesting and intellectually engaging,” said Chougule.

He said that the school’s infrastructure is one of the best in Qatar incorporating the latest, green building concepts, optimum cooling, spacious naturally lit classrooms, libraries, labs and toilet facilities. 

He added that the school also has multiple sports facilities like a full size football pitch, volley ball courts, indoor basketball and badminton courts. The school has adequate parking facilities for all the school buses and staff cars to park within the school campus. 

Chougule also added that the management of the school has also made a marathon effort to recruit and bring to Qatar the best of Indian teachers from different parts of India. “A fully integrated digital curriculum that includes pre-class digital reading, in-class digital assessments and post-class digital assignments, will make Monarch International School, the most innovative and forward looking school in Qatar,” he added. 

He said that the CBSE curriculum has been adopted with teaching and learning strategies that employ the digital media in such a way that it delivers students as life-long learners.

Vice-President of the school, Yasir Nainar, highlighted the state of the art digital infrastructure that was placed in the school. The school is the first in Qatar to have fiber connectivity up to the classrooms. The speed of the Internet can be enjoyed in all classrooms and hence makes the teaching and learning process enjoyable with supplemented information from the Internet. 

All students have also been provided with ipads that are used for some digital activities in class, class assessments and digital e-book reading. Hence the child carries minimum of books to and fro from school.

With the CBSE affiliation process already started, the school will be ready to take in students up to class 9 in the new academic year in April 2020. The school has all the features of becoming one of the icons of Indian education in Qatar and in the Gulf region.
