LOS ANGELES: Jarret Stoll scored a power-play goal in overtime, lifting the Los Angeles Kings to a victory over the Anaheim Duck 3-2.
Stoll tapped a pass from Justin Williams through the legs of goalie Frederik Andersen at 2:19, allowing the Kings (9-5-4) to end a two-game skid. Los Angeles avenged a 6-5 shootout win by Anaheim (11-3-4) on Wednesday. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 27 of the 29 shots.
Penguins 3, Rangers 2 (shootout)
Brandon Sutter scored the winning goal in a shootout as the Pittsburgh Penguins notched a controversial victory over the NY Rangers.
The Rangers appeared to have won the game when defenseman Dan Boyle scored what would have been their second goal of the shootout. However, the score was overturned after a video review and both teams returned from their locker rooms.
Evgeni Malkin had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh (12-3-1) and Blake Comeau scored a goal.
Avalanche 3, Devils 2
Matt Duchene’s goal late in the third period gave the Colorado Avalanche a win over the New Jersey Devils.
Duchene’s initial shot was stopped by Devils goalie Cory Schneider, but he could not control the rebound and Duchene slipped it past him at 17:07. Eric Gelinas and Martin Havlat scored for the Devils (9-7-2). Colorado (6-8-5) also got goals from Eric Johnson and John Mitchell.
Canadiens 6, Flyers 3
Dale Weise scored twice, leading the Montreal Canadiens to a win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau also scored twice while David Desharnais, P K Subban also had goals for the Canadiens (13-4-1), who won their fifth straight.
