Doha, Qatar: Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s (QPO) CineMoon Ensemble is set to reprise their highly acclaimed performance of “Mozart: A Musical Sitcom” in April next year.

The concert was originally set for October 26 but was moved to a later date.

“Mozart: A Musical Sitcom” is an extraordinary musical journey that immerses the audience in the 18th century, complete with authentic period costumes and historical characters from Mozart’s era, portrayed by the Cinemoon Ensemble and special guest performers.

QPO Executive Director, Kurt Meister shared insights about this exceptional show. “This concert offers a unique portrayal of Mozart’s life, spanning from his early years to adulthood. It is distinguished by a fusion of rock music elements, featuring electric guitar, electric violin, and electric cello,” he told The Peninsula.

“Notably, the renowned composition ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’ is performed in a rock rendition. However, the subsequent segment features Salieri expressing his disenchantment with the rock interpretation, subsequently presenting the original rococo-styled version of ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’ composed by Mozart,” Meister continued. Meister emphasised that “Mozart: A Musical Sitcom” is a family-friendly concert that offers a unique musical experience, complete with authentic 18th-century attire and historical figures from Mozart’s era. He added: “This musical event caters not only to a younger audience but also to mature individuals who have retained a youthful spirit.”

The Founder and Artistic Director of the CineMoon Ensemble, Merve Kenet Bulun in a separate statement, expressed her excitement about the return of “Mozart: A Musical Sitcom.” She noted that the show, which premiered in 2019 at Katara Opera House, was a significant milestone for the ensemble, involving extensive historical research.
