Doha: Qatar University’s (QU) Human Resources (HR) Department opened its faculty orientation event as part of its annual welcoming events to new faculty to provide them with information about QU, the QU community and the wider society.
Themed ‘Marhaba’, the 10-day event until August 27 will orient over 190 new faculty on faculty-related issues and other settling-in requirements such as immigration, housing, banking, residence permit, Talabati services, health insurance and other administrative matters. The first day’s activities drew around 20 new arrivals who were provided with presentations on the university’s organisational structure, applicable rules and regulations and administrative processes. It also featured a screening of a video produced by QU students to welcome the new faculty.
Welcoming the new faculty, QU Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Dr Humaid Al Midfaa, said: “This important event shows the HR Department’s commitment to advance the university’s mission by providing employees with opportunities and services that contribute to enhancing their introduction to the organisation and their cultural and social adjustments in the country.”
