Al Khor Community is a housing community of 12,500 Qatargas and RasGas employees and families.

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Al Khor Community (AKC) – the housing community for 12,500 Qatargas and Rasgas employees and families.
The MoU is the start of a beneficial relationship between QC and AKC and includes many activities, including hosting TAYF containers and donation boxes at different locations in the complex, making it easier for residents to donate clothes and other items.
QC will organise community events, including for children and awareness campaigns to help promote social responsibility and charity activities. QC Community Partnerships Centre said such agreements help QC promote its values and raise solidarity with causes in the community.
After the signing of the MoU, AKC presented donations from the community to help Syrian refugees in their prolonged tragedy.
In response to the earthquake in Nepal, AKC issued an urgent call to residents to raise funds to support QC through donation boxes and a “Bingo for a Cause” charity evening. AKC also participated in ‘The Box Appeal’ to show community solidarity with labourers during World Labour Day by giving them gift boxes of  hygiene items.
It hosts Al Khor International School and on Earth Day, students organised a food donation drive. Some 30 boxes were donated to QC and distributed at one of the labour camps near Al Khor.
Abdoulnaser Alzaher Alyafei, CEO, Local Development, praised the agreement and AKC for support to and solidarity with QC.
He said the deal is a model of how a community can contribute, volunteer and give to support charity and good causes.
An AKC spokesman said they had signed the agreement in recognition of QC’s appeals and community development programmes, including educational, entertaining and awareness campaigns.
