Traffic officials fork-lifting the container at Mannai Junction yesterday.

DOHA: Trucks carrying shipping containers are plying dangerously on Doha streets.
A huge container from a moving truck fell down at Toyoto Intersection (Najma) during the peak morning hours yesterday.
No one was hurt, but traffic came to a grinding halt for some time, before traffic police came and cleared the road.
This is the second such incident in Doha in the past three months.
On May 25, a motorist was killed after a huge container from a moving truck fell onto his vehicle on Corniche Road.
Yesterday, the container-loaded truck was coming from the port.
The container shifted from the vehicle and fell onto the street as the driver took a sharp turn at the intersection.
It seems the driver had accelerated to gain speed to avoid the red light. The truck was reportedly bereft of any support to keep the container intact, Al Sharq reports.
