People on social media are praising Qatar and ethics of Qatari citizens as they are dealing with the Gulf crisis without directing abuses against the opponents.
The Twitterati have created a hashtag #SomethingYouKnowAboutQataris to know people's opinion about Qatari people. The majority of the people, who took part in the campaign, think that Qataris are polite, they do not abuse others "although others say bad things about them".
“The crisis between Qatar and the three Gulf counties has made it clear that Qatari people deserve respect, they didn’t reply to bad words from others and they show respect to their brothers in the Gulf countries,” writes one Twitterati.
A Saudi citizen said: “Being a Saudi I am impressed by the behaviour of Qataris. We hope this crisis will end soon.”
Another person says: "Qatar has not stopped gas supply to the UAE; it is the character of the great people and must be studied in schools for next generation."
Turkish foreign minister earlier said that “Qatar deserves respect during this current crisis, because it did not choose escalation, although it's in strong position.”
The Qatar Government Communications office earlier issued statement saying that based on the principles of our Islamic religion, our human values, and our authentic Qatari culture, we call on all those who live in this noble land to rise above and continue to avoid responding similarly to the abuses that has been circulated in various social media platforms.
It also urge them to show a sense of responsibility by refraining from directing any kind of abuses to other countries, their leaders or their peoples. Mohamed Mokhtar Al Shinguity, an academician said: "It is amazing that others advise us to stay away from the Gulf crisis; we are Arab and Muslims. Such people should give advice to people in Maldives islands and Mauritius Island."
Former editor in chief of Al Sharq, Jaber Al Harmi, said: “Nothing can stop them from doing the same with Kuwait or Oman what they have done with us."
