Lausanne, Switzerland: Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani signed a sports co-operation deal with Ukraine in aiming to improve sports at both Olympic and non-Olympic levels. Sheikh Saoud also signed a Sports Understanding Agreement with the Korean Olympic Committee.
The signing of the deals were made during the QOC’s delegation visit, headed by Sheikh Saoud in the ANOC Extraordinary General Assembly in Lausanne, Switzerland, where all the National Olympic Committee nations discussed the methods for developing sports worldwide.
In the Ukrainian deal, retired pole vaulter Sergey Bubka, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, signed the deal for the European country. As part of the agreement, the two countries will work together by exchanging expertise, knowledge, training and sport medicine.
The deal will also enhance co-ordination between the two countries at different continental and international sports events.
In a press release following the deal, Sheikh Saoud lauded the relationship between Qatar and Ukraine in all fields especially in the sport domain.
Sheikh Saoud said the agreement will support the constructive partnership between the two countries.
Sheikh Saoud also appreciated the Qatari - Ukraine cooperation in the sport sector and described the agreement as a constructive method to serve the sport interests for both nations and will bring a valuable gains in the future.
In the Korea agreement, Korean Olympic Committee President Kim Jung signed the deal for his country.
After signing the deal, Sheikh Saoud gave Qatar’s support to the 17th Asian Games which will be held in Incheon city in South Korea next year. Sheikh Saoud also commented on the significant and historic relations between Qatar and South Korea in the youth and sport activities and exchange of expertise.
The deal will encourage the two countries to organise joint training camps, exchange technical and administrative expertise and build projects for sport development.
