Awqaf Ministry hosts Islamic scholars for Ramadan programme

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that it is hosting a number of reputed Islamic scholars from Qatar and abroad to discuss key issues of the Islamic world.

The 10th Ramadan Programme titled, “Aminhum Min Khawf” (protect them from fear) will begin today at Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque.

The programme will be held in the form of open sessions. Each session will discuss one of the issues related to the Islamic world, the future of its comprehensive cultural security, and the challenges it faces. The five day event will continue until March 21.

In the first session on “the objectives of Islamic law and the reality of Muslims’ will see participation of Dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies of Qatar University Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Ansari, Vice-President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars Dr. Issam Al Bashir, Sheikh of the Recitation of Tripoli Dr. Bilal Baroudi, and Professor of Jurisprudence and its Principles at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Qatar University Dr. Nour Al Din Al Khadimi.

The programme aims at hosting an elite group of scholars and thinkers from inside and outside Qatar to discuss important issues for the Islamic nation over the course of nine sessions.

The will discuss o a moderate approach and a purposeful, original vision, with analysis and reading of the reality of the Muslim world and the nature of the transformations and challenges that the Islamic world is experiencing, and ways of reform and renewal.

Since its inception, the programme has succeeded in hosting approximately 130 senior Muslim scholars and thinkers from all over the world. They presented a summary of their thoughts and visions regarding confronting contemporary challenges that threaten the Islamic world's spiritual, intellectual, and social security.

The programme was launched in 2014 to become an important annual occasion.
