An international conference on primary care will discuss best practices and underline Qatar’s legacy of promoting health and wellness this week in Doha.
The 4th International Primary Health Care Conference – Qatar 2020 will begin on February 19 under the theme ‘A Foundation set for Significance’ is expected to gather more than 900 local and international experts, said Dr Mariam Abdul Malek, Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), yesterday.
“The conference will provide a platform to share knowledge, facilitate forums to discuss best practices and underline Qatar’s legacy of promoting health and wellness by providing excellence in primary healthcare,” she said addressing a press conference.
The conference will bring together inspiring speakers and experts from across the globe to share knowledge and best practice through panel sessions, exhibitions and workshops.
“Topics covered in a wide-ranged program include health promotion, disease prevention, integrated healthcare models, innovation and creativity in healthcare settings, quality, risk and safety, best practices in medical education and capacity building, as well as exchange of experiences and expertise of best practices through associated exhibitions and workshops,” said Dr Abdul Malek.
She also empahsised that the conference will explore the impact of effective leadership and governance in healthcare system, review the development of clinical practices, updates and breakthroughs.
It will also discuss health promotion and disease prevention within the framework of primary care, explore the development, significant reform and broader challenges faced when implementing an integrated model of care to a health system, reflect the PHCC commitment to innovations and creativity in health care settings and raising the level of awareness and highlighting the importance of best practice in education, training and capacity building.
It will also feature more than 50 sessions over three days covering a wide variety of topics that are shaping the future of primary health care. Also five pre-conference workshops will cover some of the key topics in primary healthcare such as - How to Conduct Systematic Reviews, Wound Management, Lifestyle as Medicine, Travel Medicine, and Learning from Patient Experience Both Past Present.
“The four-day conference will discuss 60 local and global papers. The Committee followed scientific criteria and methodology to identify the themes of the conference, in order to maximize the benefit of international experiences in the medical field, the diversity of speakers was considered, where the list of the conference included lectures attended by a group of prominent and distinguished experts in the medical field from inside and outside Qatar,” said Dr Hanan Al Mujalli, Executive Director of Clinical Affairs, PHCC.
